Parents usually have a tough time deciding on a school for their children. This is such an important decision as it will impact the emotional and intellectual well-being of the child.
Firstly, parents have to choose between the various examination boards and make a choice. If you have settled on a CBSE school for your ward, then take a look at the CBSE schools’ admission process.
Typically, taking admission to a CBSE school requires that the child fulfills certain conditions as stipulated by the CBSE board. While you can get a full idea of the admission process from the official website of the CBSE board, different schools have their own process of admission, (fully compliant with the board) which you need to know beforehand.
Here is a brief idea of the CBSE school admission process for DPS Barasat.
There are 2 modes by which the parent can fill up the registration form—online and offline. As per the convenience of the parent, the registration form has to be filled up and submitted along with a lot of documents to the school office. This has to be done within 3 days of filling up the registration form.
Note that registration does not imply admission. Just because the registration form is filled up, does not mean the child has automatically been accepted into the school.
Along with the admission form, there are a host of documents to be submitted. The important ones are the Birth Certificate from the Municipal Corporation and not from any Hospital or Nursing Home. If the child is seeking admission from another school, the Mark Sheet or Report Card from that school needs to be provided. Along with this, one needs to provide recent passport-sized pictures of parents and the child as well. Transfer Certificate from last school attended is also requisite.
For Nursery, KG-I, and KG-II, there are no written tests or interviews. Instead, there is an interaction. An interaction is a time spent with the child, where the child is observed interacting with the toys, colors, etc. The child is then judged on mental, physical, and basic communication abilities. Even interaction with parents will be held on the same day. Both parents should be present. For admission from Class 1 upwards, there will be a written test on English, Maths, GK, and Vernacular languages.
