At DPS Barasat, we provide a safe and friendly learning environment. The principal teaching block is earthquake and fire-resistant. Electric wires running through the school are FRLS (fire-resistant, low-smoke) cables with high insulation. A large number of smoke detectors and fire extinguishers are located across strategic points. The electric sub-station is placed more than 100m from the school building (as against a fire norm of 5-10m). CCTV cameras and a highmounted surveillance system help monitor student safety at all times.
To cater to the Children With Special Needs(CWSN) we have a School Counselor. The school also has a Special Educator.
Well-equipped library with encyclopaedias, books (fiction & non-fiction), periodicals, magazines, reference books etc. with comfortable seating will allow the students to browse books and gain knowledge on a variety of subjects.
We treat each student as an individual with unique capabilities and needs, and our aim is to achieve success where it is desired and where there is potential. Through our activities and community service programme, we aim to promote a sense of responsibility and balance in life. Our sincere efforts are directed to make the child mentally agile, physically dexterous, intellectually decisive with a modern outlook/ approach and having a love for their motherland, its culture, heritage and tradition.
Excursions and trips have an educational element which gives students a chance to experience new environments and enjoy a day away from the classroom. Absence of fear and a joy of discovery in trips and excursions make learning in informal environment pleasurable. Teachers design modules and study of different aspects of the central theme/topic/objective. Students are made to record observations through written as well as visual means followed by a presentation once they return from the trip.
